About Dallas Neurosurgeon Dr. Chris Michael
Dr. Chris Michael is a board-certified neurosurgeon in Texas with offices in Dallas and Addison. He earned his undergraduate degree at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina. After that, he went to medical school and completed his neurosurgical residency at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas.
During his residency, he received surgical training at M.D. Anderson Cancer Center in Houston. He also did research there. He’s a Clinical Assistant Professor at Texas A&M Health Science Center’s College of Medicine in the Department of Neurosurgery.
Dr. Michael has served as director of neurosurgical operating facilities at Baylor University Medical Center. This facility has image-guided surgery for the brain and spine and an interoperative MRI for the brain.
He has also served as the chairman of the board of managers at Methodist Hospital for Surgery in Addison. The hospital specializes in spine care. He’s been in private practice in Dallas and Baylor University Medical Center since 2001.
The ideal treatment for back and neck pain varies from patient to patient. Each case requires understanding the patient’s medical history, reviewing the patient’s current medications and lifestyle, and recommending needed diagnostic tests.
Dr. Michael’s goal is to find the least invasive treatment that provides the best results. The good news is that most problems he sees don’t require surgery. They may be resolved with physical therapy and other non-invasive treatments. Occasionally, a case may require surgery or more extensive treatment.
Dr. Chris Michael specializes in the following neurosurgical treatments:
- Conservative spine therapy
- Minimally-invasive spine surgery
- Transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion
- Cervical artificial disc replacement
- Microlaminectomy and microforaminotomy
From day one, Dr. Michael has always spent time with patients to understand their needs. He’ll develop a customized treatment plan specific to your healthcare needs.
