👉 Spinal deformities / Anterior-posterior (front-back) Spinal Fusion —
At Texas NeuroSpine Surgery, our goal is to always find the least invasive approaches for the best surgical outcome. However, some cases require more extensive approaches, as in this case of an L4-5 deformity in a patient with rheumatoid arthritis and years of debilitating low back pain. A “front-back” or “anterior-posterior” surgery was needed to correct her deformity and stabilize her spine.
A few weeks after surgery, the patient was off pain medication and resuming work and normal activities. Although not every patient recovers as quickly, this type of extensive surgery offers a solution to many patients who have failed less invasive treatment.
At Texas Neuro-Spine Surgery, we recognize that every patient is unique, and patients require personal attention to choose the best surgical approach, whether it is minimally invasive spinal surgery or more extensive approaches. Be sure to choose a surgeon who will discuss all types of approaches, including surgical and non-surgical, for your condition as well as reasonable expectations after surgery.
